Summer students at IUPUI

For the second summer in a row, Indiana University is offering a 25 percent tuition discount on in-state fees for undergraduate courses at IU Bloomington, IU East, IUPUI, IUPUC, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend and IU Southeast.

The summer tuition reduction program, announced in October 2011, resulted in more students taking courses at IU campuses across the state in 2012 than in 2011, with a combined savings to those students of $11.8 million.

The 29,423 students enrolled at seven IU campuses in summer of 2012 represented a 3 percent increase over the previous summer, with the university's core campuses in Indianapolis and Bloomington experiencing gains of 4.9 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.

IUPUI had the largest summer enrollment of any IU campus in 2012, at more than 10,000 students; about 9,200 students took classes at IU Bloomington. IU East in Richmond, up 14.7 percent, and IU Kokomo, 11.3 percent, experienced the largest percentage increases in summer enrollment.

Every IU undergraduate is eligible to take advantage of this deal, and students from other universities are welcome to get in on the price break.

The amount of summer tuition discount depends on the student's status. Indiana resident undergraduates receive a 25 percent discount on summer courses on any IU campus, while nonresident undergraduates receive an equivalent dollar reduction in their tuition that is equal in value to the 25 percent discount that in-state students receive.
