Flu shots are coming to your campus soon
Sept. 28, 2016
As temperatures get cooler and people stay indoors, illnesses start to spread rapidly. To avoid catching the flu, staff and faculty are encouraged to protect against the virus with vaccines.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends an annual flu shot for everyone 6 months and older.
"The most important thing to know about the flu shot is to get one," said Nancy Macklin, director of nursing at the IU Health Center in Bloomington. "Influenza is highly contagious and spreads rapidly in classes, close living arrangements and social gatherings, all common situations at IU."
To help you stay healthy during this flu season, IU campuses are offering vaccines to faculty, staff and students that protect against three or four strains of the virus.
(Editor’s note: All IU campuses were contacted for flu vaccine information. As more details are available, this story will be updated.)
