Indiana University trustees approve room rates for 2017-18 academic year
Feb. 3, 2017
The Indiana University Board of Trustees has approved on-campus room rates for the 2017-18 academic year.
At IU Bloomington, the cost of the standard room -- currently $6,741 -- will increase by 1 percent, or $67 per academic year.
This standard room includes an air-conditioned, double-occupancy room in a mid-amenity residence hall. The new rates will vary, depending on which facility is chosen. Economy and enhanced room costs at IU Bloomington will increase at the same rate of 1 percent.
Despite the rate increases, IU Bloomington’s student housing costs are expected to remain relatively low when compared to other Big Ten schools. Don Lukes, Indiana University treasurer, said the cost of Bloomington's most prevalent room and board rate is currently the ninth-highest among all Big Ten universities.
Rate increase ranges for housing on other IU campuses are as follows:
- IUPUI: 0 to 3.5 percent
- IU Southeast: 1.95 to 2.06 percent
- IU South Bend: 1 percent
